CranioSacral Therapy Services
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on therapy which uses a light touch and gentle movements to monitor the rhythm of cerebral-spinal fluid (CSF) throughout the body. CSF surrounds,
safeguards and provides nourishment for the brain, spinal cord and membranes. This is the craniosacral
system. The pumping motion of this fluid creates a subtle pulse which is similar to a heartbeat and can
be felt throughout the body. This rhythm is monitored by applying light pressure at specific evaluation
points through the length of the body (head, neck, spinal cord, lower back and ankles).
With CranioSacral Therapy, the natural rhythm of the CranioSacral function is restored, blood and
oxygen flow are improved, toxins are removed more efficiently and brain cells function more effectively
as they are receiving the nutrients they require. With CST individuals generally feel a release from
stress and anxiety and begin to enjoy a renewed sense of well-being.
CST has been found to be beneficial for: musculoskeletal pain, disc lesions, neuropathy, migraines,
whiplash, brain injury, adhesions, tinnitis, fibrositis, dental pain, allergies, anxiety, depression, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder
and autism.
Somato Emotional Release:
SomatoEmotional Release (SER) is an advanced form of CST. SER is a therapeutic process
which locates and releases the mind and body from previous trauma and past negative emotional experiences.
The body often retains a physical and emotional imprint as the result of trauma. These imprints become isolated and dysfunctional and
create “energy cysts” in body tissue. The body is initially able to adapt to these energy cysts, however, over time the body loses the
ability to adapt effectively and more energy is required to carry out basic functions. Suppressed physical and emotional trauma lay
the foundation for many ailments.
SER is a process to locate and release the energy cysts by using imaging and dialoguing techniques that guide you through the emotions.
There is no need to analyze the problem to release it. Often the body will spontaneously return to the same position it was in when the
injury was first sustained. As this occurs, the tissues of the body relax as the energy cyst is released. SER was found to improve brain
activity in the occipital (back of the brain) region of the brain which is associated with emotional trauma. CST, SER and Neurotherapy.
Both CST and SER have been very positive therapies when used as an adjunct to neurotherapy. CST facilitates neurotherapeutic
treatment and some remarkable recoveries were found when the emotional trauma was treated neurologically with neurotherapy and
the emotional content treated with SER. Dr. Paul G. Swingle, Vancouver BC, has been doing research on the use of CST and SER with
Neurotherapy and has presented this at the international conference of the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback.
